Wow, I can't believe it has already been two years since I moved to RBS.
After Tisha B'Av two years ago I moved with my family to RBS Gimmel Echad. Boruch Hashem it is a wonderful community with lots of kollelim and lots of Torah learning. However, there was one thing lacking which I was missing from my days in Yerushalayim, which was a libo chofetz night kollel that runs until late (just what I need to be able to write the Limuday Moshe Booklets). Being that I couldn't find one I decided to step in and make one of my own and the rest is history. Boruch Hashem, I now have the zechus of running a night kollel in RBS, which allows avreichim to learn what they want and when they want, anytime between 8:30 PM - Midnight.
As of last zeman the kollel had eight avreichim and the plan b'ezras Hashem is to keep growing.
One of the big advantages in flexible hours, is that many night kollelim if you don't start by 9:15 / 9:30 PM then you lose out on shemiras hasedorim, which in other words means there is no point attending. In our kollel, however, even if an avreich is busy helping his wife with the kids, doing some shopping, paying bills etc. etc. and it's already 10 PM there is still plenty time to learn, so although flexibility during the morning and afternoon seder may not be so positive, in our case I think flexible learning is very conducive.
The kolllel has regular weekly chaburas, and each week a different avreich speaks. Other people from the community are also invited to join.
Being as the kollel is flexible, there is no fixed amount each avreich receives, some are very serious and manage to learn a lot and earn up to 1,200 shekel, and some are not as zoche to be able to learn so much and they earn 500-600. On average it comes out to around 750 shekel a month per avreich.
It would be amazing if you could become a partner in our kollel and sponsor on a monthly basis 750 shekel a month, however, anything and everything is very helpful and greatly appreciated.
